One Hour Mining Grind in Shroud of the Avatar – Can It Pay the Taxes?

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to grind for survival in a quiet MMO, this session in Shroud of the Avatar gives a pretty honest look.

I spent about an hour in-game focusing on one simple goal: earn enough gold to keep my property from expiring. In Shroud of the Avatar, that means paying lot taxes, and this time, I managed to extend mine by 50 days. Not bad for a single session.

The method? Straight-up mining in Elysium Mines.

My avatar ran laps through the mine, gathering whatever resources were available. Over the course of the stream, I collected a mix of silver ore, copper ore, tungsten, tin, and even some onyx gem fragments. It’s a pretty decent spread, especially if you’re planning to sell everything for gold instead of crafting.

Each lap took around 30 minutes to complete, so the entire session was basically two full mining runs. It’s a slow, steady grind—no flashy moments, just consistent farming. But that’s kind of the point. This wasn’t about action, it was about sustainability.

The goal was clear from the start: mine → sell → pay taxes.

And it worked.

One interesting thing about Shroud of the Avatar is that even though it’s a free MMO, the world feels unusually quiet. There are very few players around, which makes the experience feel almost like a single-player grind at times. Depending on your mood, that can either be relaxing or a bit eerie.

Still, there’s something satisfying about carving out progress in a low-population game. Every ore you collect actually feels like it matters, especially when it directly supports something as important as keeping your in-game property active.

This session wasn’t about big wins or rare drops, it was about consistency. Just showing up, doing the work, and keeping things running.

If you’re into chill grinding, resource farming, or just curious about how Shroud of the Avatar plays these days, this was a simple but real slice of gameplay.
