Songtradr claimed GALWAY by Kevin MacLeod in YouTube!
Using music in videos is a very tricky thing because it could easily give you a copyright claim, at worst a copyright strike, from the owner of the music specially if you don't have permission to use it. That's why most of the music I use on my videos are either public domain or licensed under Creative Commons like those found in Incompetech.com by Kevin MacLeod.
Speaking of music by Kevin MacLeod, today I got a copyright claim on a private video in YouTube from someone named Songtradr and the music that was claimed was Galway by Kevin MacLeod.
As far as the website Incompetech.com goes, the music Galway by Kevin Macleod is licensed under Creative Commons 4.0 which basically states it's free to use by anyone even commercially but must give appropriate credit to the creator, etc.
Now, I don't know who Songtradr is but, what I do know is, it's not Incompetech.com nor is it Kevin MacLeod. So why did Songtradr claim the music Galway even though they obviously don't own it?
I don't really have an exact answer as to why Songtradr claimed the music Galway, all I can do is guess. Maybe they're trying to make a quick buck on the video but then, again, it was a private video. So, making a quick buck on it was impossible.
Anyway, it was just a copyright claim on a private video in YouTube and it hasn't really affected my super small youtube gameplay channel but it's just weird that accounts like Songtradr would claim music they don't really own.
Unless, I'm missing something here, Galway is music I downloaded from Incompetech.com and, as far as I know, it was created by Kevin MacLeod and not Songtradr.
