Fishing, Faith, and AFK Kickers: My Strange Visit to a Second Life Fishing Event

Fishing, Faith, and AFK Kickers: My Strange Visit to a Second Life Fishing Event

Virtual worlds can lead to some truly unexpected experiences, and my recent trip to a fishing event in Second Life definitely fits that category.

I decided to stop by the x3 Virtual Fishing event at Jesus Christ is Lord Forever. For anyone who enjoys fishing in Second Life, multiplier events are always exciting. A 3x boost means better rewards, faster progress, and a good excuse to hang out with other players while relaxing by the water.

At first, everything seemed pretty normal. People were fishing, chatting, and enjoying the event. But then something quickly started to stand out.

The sim had an AFK Kicker that triggered every 30 seconds.

Yes... every thirty seconds.

A message would pop up asking you to confirm you were still there. Over and over again. It quickly went from mildly amusing to incredibly annoying. Instead of relaxing and enjoying the fishing event, it felt like I was constantly clicking buttons just to prove I existed.

That got me thinking about the theme of the location itself. The sim is called Jesus Christ is Lord Forever, which naturally brings certain ideas to mind about faith, openness, and welcoming people.

Another rule caught my attention too: the area was restricted to accounts with Payment Info on File.

That led to a funny thought during the livestream. Would Jesus really restrict people from coming to him based on whether they had payment information attached to their account?

Probably not.

I even joked about it during the stream. Imagine Jesus teaching a large crowd about God while his disciples walk around every 30 seconds asking, “Are you still listening? Click this button to prove it!”

Yeah... that probably wouldn’t happen.

Of course, it’s important to remember something: the sim isn’t owned by Jesus Christ, it’s owned by people. And people make their own rules, even in virtual worlds.

Despite the constant AFK prompts, I stayed for the main reason I came in the first place: the x3 fishing multiplier. Events like that are always fun, even with a few quirks.

Once the multiplier event wrapped up, I packed up my fishing gear and headed out.

In the end, it turned into a pretty funny and memorable livestream. Sometimes the most entertaining moments in virtual worlds come from the unexpected little things, like fishing, philosophy, and an AFK kicker that just won’t stop. 🎣😂
