Shroud of the Avatar Crashes & OBS Fails: Why I Uninstalled the Game

If you’ve been following my content, you know that Shroud of the Avatar isn’t a game I play regularly. I only re-installed it recently with the simple goal of checking on my in-game houses to make sure everything was still in order. Unfortunately, what seemed like a straightforward task quickly turned into a frustrating experience filled with technical issues.

The Reinstall and the Crashes

I don’t keep Shroud of the Avatar installed on my computer all the time. It’s one of those games I only boot up occasionally, and this time I re-installed it just to check if my houses were still there. However, even after a fresh install, the game simply wouldn’t cooperate. Every time I tried to launch it, the game crashed straight to the desktop. No freezing, no error messages—just an immediate shutdown and return to the desktop.

I never even got the chance to walk around my properties, let alone confirm they were still in the game. Every time I tried to launch the game, it would crash before I could even get past the loading screen.

OBS Crashes as Well

The last time I tried launching Shroud of the Avatar, something else went wrong too—OBS (Open Broadcaster Software) crashed. Unlike before, OBS didn’t freeze when the game crashed. Instead, both Shroud of the Avatar and OBS crashed at the same time. This was particularly frustrating because I was hoping to stream my attempts to check my houses, but with both the game and OBS crashing, I couldn’t even get a stream up and running.

For anyone who streams, you know that a crash in OBS is one of the most frustrating things to deal with. When both your game and streaming software fail simultaneously, it’s a major roadblock. All I wanted to do was check my in-game properties, but with both the game and OBS crashing, that task became impossible.

What I Did: Just Stopped Trying

I didn’t spend time troubleshooting or trying to figure out what was causing the crashes. Instead, I just stopped trying to launch Shroud of the Avatar and decided to restart OBS. I figured that if I couldn’t even get the game running, there was no point in spending extra time trying to fix it.

It was a simple decision: instead of continuing to bang my head against the wall, I moved on. I decided to save myself the frustration and just focus on other things.

Uninstalling Shroud of the Avatar

After dealing with constant crashes and OBS failures, I ultimately made the decision to uninstall Shroud of the Avatar again. It wasn’t worth keeping the game installed if I couldn’t even check my houses without running into problems. I don’t have a strong attachment to the game—I only boot it up occasionally for that specific purpose. But with no progress made, it just seemed better to remove it and free up space on my system.

It was a frustrating process, but I’ve learned that sometimes, it's just easier to walk away from a game if it’s causing too many issues. Hopefully, the developers will fix the stability problems in the future, but for now, Shroud of the Avatar is no longer on my system.

Why Stability Matters for Gamers and Streamers

Whether you’re a casual gamer or someone who streams, stability is key. If a game is constantly crashing to the desktop, it ruins the experience, no matter what your goals are. And for streamers, technical issues like these can be disastrous—not just for you, but for your viewers too.

In my case, I don’t play Shroud of the Avatar for fun—I only log in to check on my houses. But when even that basic task is interrupted by constant crashes, it’s hard to justify keeping the game installed. Stability is crucial for a smooth gaming or streaming experience.

Moving Forward: Is It Time to Let Go?

Despite my initial hopes to quickly check on my houses, the continuous crashes and OBS problems made it impossible. I’m not sure if I’ll reinstall Shroud of the Avatar again in the future, but for now, it’s off my system. I’ve had enough of the crashes, and I don’t see a reason to keep trying when other games and activities are more stable.

If you’re experiencing similar issues, you’re not alone! Sometimes, it’s just better to cut ties with a game that’s causing too much frustration, at least until it gets the fixes it needs.

Final Thoughts: Gaming Should Be Stress-Free

At the end of the day, gaming should be about enjoyment, not frustration. When technical issues like constant crashes and streaming failures get in the way, it’s hard to stay positive. I’m not deeply invested in Shroud of the Avatar, but I’d like to check on my in-game houses without dealing with all these problems.

Since uninstalling the game, I feel less stressed, and I can move on to more stable experiences. Hopefully, in the future, things will improve for Shroud of the Avatar players, but for now, it’s no longer a part of my gaming library.
