Killer Occulus VR Headset, A Sword Art Online Tribute
For those who don't know, the Occulus VR Headset that can kill when you die in games is probably just some form of dark humor from the founder of Occulus.
You see, "In 2022, a virtual reality massively multiplayer online role-playing game (VRMMORPG) called Sword Art Online (SAO) will be released. With the NerveGear, a helmet that stimulates the user's five senses via their brain, players can experience and control their in-game characters with their minds. Both the game and the NerveGear were created by Akihiko Kayaba."
My guess is, it's simply the Occulus founder's way of paying tribute to the anime, Sword Art Online, and if you haven't seen the anime yet then I suggest you give it a watch.
