Back in March of 2013, this company called Portalarium, founded by this guy, the legendary Richard Garriott, launched a successful Kickstarter Campaign to develop the Ultimate Roleplaying Game and that game is Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues.

With storylines from Best Selling Author Tracy Hickman and Richard Garriott himself, Shroud of the Avatar combines Ultima's strong single player storytelling with Ultima Online's sandbox massively multiplayer online gameplay.

As a sandbox, Shroud of the Avatar gives players the freedom to shape their Avatars with a classless character system as well as the world of New Britannia with player owned towns and housing.

Of course, the game is not just a complex housing simulator. There are hundreds of locations, scenes and areas to explore and they are filled with not just monsters to kill but traps and puzzles to solve as well.

Now, instead of killing monsters, players in Shroud of the Avatar can engage in Player Versus Player and kill each other anywhere in New Britannia by simply asking the Oracle to remove her protection.

For those not interested in killing monsters and other players, Shroud of the Avatar has a robust crafting and gathering system that will keep even the most active player busy for hours in New Britannia.

Four years after Kickstarter and 200,000 New Britannian's later, Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues continues to grow month after month with updates and content enjoyed by everyone in the community.
