So I recently recorded a short video about something super weird that happened while launching GTA 5. Imagine this—you’ve already played the game for over 500 hours on Steam, everything has been working fine, and suddenly… the game asks you to activate it again. Yep, that’s exactly what happened to me.

At first, I honestly thought it was just a random glitch that would go away after restarting the game. But nope, the activation prompt kept showing up like I had never owned the game in the first place. Which is crazy, considering how much time I’ve already spent in GTA V.

This kind of issue can be really frustrating, especially when you know your game is legitimately purchased and installed. It makes you wonder if the problem is coming from Steam, the Rockstar launcher, or some kind of temporary authentication error.

From what I’ve seen and experienced, issues like this can sometimes be caused by launcher sync problems, login mismatches, or even server hiccups. It’s not super common, but when it happens, it definitely catches you off guard.

The good news is that in many cases, these problems can be resolved by restarting the launcher, verifying game files, or simply logging out and back in again. Still, it’s one of those moments that makes you pause and go, “Wait… what just happened?”
