Heartbroken, Oreo Passed Away

Oreo was getting better. His fur was getting fluffier, healthier.

I'm heartbroken to share that another one of our beloved cats, Oreo, has passed away today. Just last month, we lost Allie to septic shock, a tragedy compounded by our inability to afford the veterinary care she desperately needed. Our lack of money prevented us from admitting Allie to the clinic, leaving us to manage her condition at home until the end.

Oreo's health had been a rollercoaster. He fell ill back in September 2024, but over time, he seemed to be improving. His recovery gave us hope, making his recent decline even more devastating. A few days ago, Oreo stopped eating, a sign that worried me deeply. I tried everything I could to encourage him to eat, but he wouldn't even open his mouth. That's when I realized his time with us might be nearing an end.

I desperately wanted to take Oreo to the vet for proper care, but like with Allie, the financial resources just weren't there. It's an agonizing reality when you can't provide medical help to your pets due to not having money. The helplessness I felt watching Oreo's condition worsen without being able to do more is something that's hard to put into words. Losing both Allie and now Oreo has left a profound emptiness, reminding me of the harsh intersection between love for our pets and the harsh realities of financial limitations.
