Landmark, A Building/Crafting Massively Multiplayer Online Game

Landmark is a massively multi-player online (MMO) game that focuses more on building and crafting. A few days ago, I bought myself a Landmark Founder's Pack and that gave me access to Landmark's Close Beta Test.

When I started playing the Landmark, all I can think about was staking a claim. I spent almost an hour just running around and scouting possible claim locations. I was searching for a nice flat surface and, when I found one, I realized staking a claim wasn't as simple as clicking a button.

After realizing my ignorance, I spent the rest of the hour digging or mining for copper. By the way, the server where I'm playing is Rebellion and I started the game playing in Abyss.

Staking A Claim

I learned how to stake a claim by searching for it in the official Landmark forum. Okay so, to stake a claim, I need to craft an item called Claim Flag. Fortunately, crafting a Claim Flag wasn't extremely too difficult. I believe it only took me a few minutes to craft one but I'm not sure. Bad memory. LOL!

My Home On Top Of A Mountain

After crafting a Claim Flag, I started checking out the different islands looking for the perfect spot or location. I was looking for a flat green surface but I ended up claiming a spot on top of a mountain in Canal. Canal is a Tier 1 island and it has nice mountain ranges.

Upkeep Cost

Now that I have my claim in Canal, I need to keep it by paying the daily Upkeep Cost. Fortunately, the Upkeep Cost for keeping and maintaining ownership of a claim is only 300 copper per day per claim. and I can pay it 5 days in advance.

Paying 5 days in advance only cost me 1,500 copper. Seriously, the Upkeep Cost of a claim is extremely cheap because copper is one of the most common material in Landmark. You'll find it in all Tier 1 islands.

I'm not sure how long the Close Beta Test of Landmark will run but I'm going to keep my Upkeep Cost deposit full. Just to be on the safe side. Again, the Upkeep Cost is very, very cheap.

The Gathering

After staking my first claim, I spent a lot of time gathering various materials. Using these materials, I was able to upgrade my Pick to Mithril and craft a Rubicite Axe. Yes, I do own a Founder's Pickaxe but I found out that I can or could chop down trees faster with a Rubicite Axe.

I also crafted all the basic Crafting Stations like the Stone Forge and others. Now, I need to gather more materials so I can craft their higher tier counter-parts. Their higher tier counter-parts are needed to craft higher tier materials.

Building A Maze

Back in my claim, I started working on a Maze. I dug deep inside the mountain and spent a couple of hours designing a simple maze. Again, the Maze is inside the mountain and it's underground. Currently, it has two levels and it's still a work in progress.

Even though, it's a work in progress, people who want to try and check it out can. People are welcome to enter the Maze and go through it. If they get lost or stuck and can't get out of the Maze then it's their problem not mine. He he he!

Check out the YouTube video of the Maze below.

Building On Top Of A Mountain

After building the initial lay-out of the Maze, I went up and started to build on top of the mountain. I was thinking of building a fort but, honestly, I don't really know what to build.

As you can see in the picture, I started with a small gazebo like build with a silhouette of a sexy lady on top. The walls have my name on them and I created that using the inlay method that was features in one of the Landmark Live episodes.

Right now, that is all I have on my claim but it won't stay like that forever because I'm going to continue building on it. What it will look like in the end is still unknown to me.

That's It For Now...

My building and gathering activities in Landmark continues. When it will end? I have no idea. I'm not sure if I can build anything amazing that people will like though.

Anyway, that's it for now. I will make another blog post about my progress in Landmark Beta as soon as I have something to post about. In the meantime, you can follow my progress by watching my Landmark gameplay videos in my new YouTube channel called Kabalyero Plays.
