NCSoft, publisher and developer of City of Heroes: Freedom, recently shutdown Paragon Studios, the NCSoft company that was developing the game, and the game is scheduled to die a meaningless death this coming November 30, 2012. Why is it meaningless? It's meaningless because the game was still making money for NCSoft and new updates for the game were already scheduled to be released.

Goodbye City of Heroes: Freedom

The only reason that was given for the sudden closure of Paragon Studios and City of Heroes: Freedom was, "In a realignment of company focus and publishing support, NCsoft has made the decision to close Paragon Studios. - Official Website". As you can see, it's not about the money at all and if that is the case then why doesn't NCSoft just sell the game to another publisher or developer?

Shutting down a game that makes the company money doesn't make any sense at all. It would have been easier to understand the decision to shut down the game if it was losing money but that wasn't the case with City of Heroes: Freedom. It was making money. It may not be big compared to Guildwars 2 but it was making money.

Seriously, if NCSoft doesn't want to publish nor develop the game anymore then they should just sell it. I'm sure someone will buy it specially if the price is very reasonable but I doubt it will happen. NCSoft will keep it and simply laugh at all the players that loved and played the game.

By the way, NCSoft's latest Korean MMORPG sucks bad. Don't even think of getting it because it will only be a waste of your time and money.
